Buildings & Infrastructure
An overview of the campus can be seen in the video here:
Since the college was gifted its first building in 2007, the charity has created an extensive campus spread across a 14.2Ha (5.7acre) site at the entrance to Mankoadze village. We now have:
-
Classrooms for each teaching department
-
Catering block and restaurant area
-
Male and female student hostels, each accommodating 50 students, including toilets, kitchens and housemaster/mistress flat
-
An assembly hall
-
Toilet block
-
Water service building (see Water page)
-
Accommodation for staff
Much of the building work has been undertaken under supervision by the Building & Construction students themselves. The college has also constructed a secure compound containing 6.5kWp of solar panels, which provide roughly half the electricity needed by the college, the remainder coming from the national grid. (Electricity is distributed to the college buildings via armoured underground cables.) Outside lighting is provided across the campus at night. The college also makes a very significant contribution to the upkeep and maintenance of the (government-owned) Kindergarten and Junior High Schools in the village.
