Yaaya Baby Bath
The Yaaya Baby Bath Project was established by Mary Otopah, a Senior Midwife and Nurse Manager for the Onyadze subdistrict in Ghana. Inspired by her deep commitment to maternal and neonatal welfare—and her own journey as mother to her adopted daughter, Yaaya—the project was created to address the critical needs of mothers and newborns.
The project provides vulnerable mothers living in exceptionally challenging circumstances with a baby bath filled with essential care items, to help support them during the critical first weeks after birth and encourage ongoing support. By offering this practical and compassionate gift, the initiative inspires local women to choose hospital births over higher-risk alternatives. This proactive approach ensures that both mother and baby receive professional medical care at the moment they need it most, significantly improving health outcomes and fostering a safer start for the newest members of the community.

Bath trade in:
To encourage recycling, the baths can be returned when no longer required and exchanged for a gift from the stock of donations.
Preloved items are collected and sorted by staff and students from The Green Room College (Windsor, UK) who work closely with Teabag charity and have links with the students of Mankoadze College.
