TEABAG is a charity in aid of The Education And Book Appeal for Ghana. The work carried out by the charity aims to improve the education of young people in Ghana by providing basic equipment, books and educational facilities.
TEABAG operates in various locations not only in education but also helping with medical care and encouraging the communities we work in, to take more responsibility for the environment in which they live.
TEABAG now sponsors over 300 children in Mankoadze and two neighbouring villages.
In due course, the sponsored children graduate from school, but do not leave with any employable skills. In 2009, the charity responded to this by setting up a Vocational College in the village. This now has 150 students from the ages of 16-26. They are taught a three-year course, offering the following specialist subjects:
The college is funded one third by the Ghana government, one third by pupil fees, and one third by TEABAG. The TEABAG Trustees communicate with the college every week via Skype, and manage the college finances.
TEABAG started focusing its resources in Mankoadze and it has expanded to other two villages, Onyadze and Abrekum.
